FIVE For Friday the 13th

FIVE For Friday the 13th

5. Digging It--Spent a decent chunk of time working with Alison Muka digging through some data and planning some great staff PD. I'm continuously impressed by the staff and resources that TK has in place.

4. Olympic Spirit--On Tuesday I had the joy of watching Mrs. Shipley and her students with Mrs. Williams participate in a 'field day' with students from McFall and Lee as well. The weather forced it inside, but that didn't put a damper on the excitement and the wonderful job that everyone did!

3. Journey Through The Center of The Earth--I was able to catch an AWESOME (and tasty) lesson in Mrs. Smith's class. While our 4th grade science classes are busy learning about the changing shape of the earth, the rock cycle, weathering and erosion (See #1) Mrs. Smith found a great way to hit it with a simulated 'fossil' dig through some delicious cupcakes!

2. Can't Stop the Beat--WOW do I wish I had Mrs. Filipiak as a music teacher when I was a kid, maybe I wouldn't be as tone deaf as a cabbage. I had the good fortune to watch some masterful teaching combining kinesthetic learning with music standards as students used a tennis ball in a variety of ways to keep track of the song's rhythm and beat.

1. One Heck of a Ride!--Kudos to three days of INCREDIBLE field trips to the Saugatuk Dunes. Students had a ton of fun learning about changes in the Earth's surface over time, erosion, weathering and the rock cycle in an engaging and exciting way! Thanks to our teachers, staff, bus drivers and parents for making this experience possible.
