Five For Friday - The Day after Halloween Edition
5. GAME ON!--I was able to touch base with a couple of Mrs. Kellogg’s students that were working on a unique interactive project. They were making ‘board games’ based on a book that they had read in class. Great hands on extension to push the boundaries of their literacy learning.
4. Exploring Explorers--Speaking of interactive activities, I had the pleasure of seeing a fun social studies ‘exploration.’ Students in Mrs. Michalski’s classes travelled through time and space by completing a European Explorer scavenger hunt that had several stations up and down one of Page’s hallways. Great way to get them moving and thinking while collaborating and learning.
3. Masquerade Parade--Halloween parties went off amazingly well. I was blown away by the organization and hard work of Page staff with great collaboration and support from so many parents. What a great way to keep kids excited, in the spirit while being safe, responsible and respectful. Great job everyone involved. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!
1. STEM on a Broom--I was able to do several teacher observations this week. All were great but the icing on the pumpkin so to speak was an incredible interactive STEM lesson that Mrs Shipley and Mrs Williams ran with our MoCi class in the MakerSpace Lab. After reading “Room on a Broom” they did an awesome STEM lab which required students to plan, design, then make a ‘broom’ out of straws that could hold the most pumpkins. Students had an absolute blast! It was just an all around impressive use of the MakerSpace Lab, with a STEM lesson connected to a Halloween book the class read!
